Fraction Operators - A Neglected Concept
Abstract: Fraction operators are found everyone and children are familiar with a variety of models, So it is not the use of fraction operators that is neglected; it is the concept of fraction operator that is neglected. This weakness carries over into percents. A student who is confused about the difference between the number "two-fifths"and the operator "two fifths of" will end up having trouble understanding how to distinquish between the different types of percent problems.
